What is Hospice?

What is Hospice Care in the home?

Hospice care focuses on the quality of life for people that have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. Full Hearts Hospice provides care in the setting of your loved one’s home (e.g. private residence, skilled nursing facility, assisted living facility, or personal care home).

Hospice is a service that most people do not know the value of until it is too late. Most people report they wish they had known about it sooner. Anyone can make a referral to the hospice. It is important to discuss with your healthcare provider.

What is Hospice Philosophy?

Hospice is not “giving up”. Hospice philosophy accepts death as a transition of life by honoring life and shifting the focus from curative to quality of life as we do not hasten or postpone one’s transition. Hospice care focuses on managing a patient’s symptoms while caring for and educating a patient’s family, rather than focusing on the disease itself.

The Full Hearts Hospice multidisciplinary approach strives to provide a family centered, patient-focused experience by providing dignity, quality, and compassionate care. Duly important is honoring and respecting our patient and family wishes concerning the physical as well as the spiritual aspect of the patient. Full Hearts Hospice wishes to give you “the precious gift of time”.
